Valuing your "place" in room 1
The object of this game is demonstrate an understanding of place value by building, saying, and recording large numbers correctly.
To play you be using numbers card from 0 to 9...
Decide on how many digits you wish to have in your number ... you can "build" whole or decimal numbers - your choice ...
Draw a line for each place value (ie. hundreds 3 lines _ _ _ ; thousands 4 lines _ , _ _ _ ; millions 7 lines _ , _ _ _ , _ _ _ ) that you will need ... you can use commas to separate the hundreds and thousands... each person will have a turn drawing a card... you will put that number on whatever line you wish to show its place value...
Read, write and try to say the number you have created with a partner(s) ... if they wish to challenge you they will try to read it back to you ...
Continue building a many numbers as you can ... have fun... keep score or not ...
For example, 4, 576, 329 is spoken or written as 4 million, five hundred seventy-six thousand, three hundred twenty - nine...
